Play St Andrews Old Course for Just £42.50: A Rare Opportunity for Scottish Golfers
Experience the Home of Golf Without Breaking the Bank
Scottish golfers are being offered a golden chance to walk in the footsteps of legends—without the legendary price tag.
Thanks to a new initiative from the St Andrews Links Trust, a round on the iconic Old Course at St Andrews will be available for just £42.50, a dramatic drop from the usual £340 green fee.
At 2Under Golf, we’re always on the lookout for ways to make the game more accessible—and this is one of the most exciting announcements of 2025 for homegrown players.
“Drive” Initiative Aims to Make Golf at St Andrews More Inclusive
The new scheme, titled “Drive”, is a bold step towards broadening access to the sport's most hallowed grounds.
Running from May to October 2025, the initiative will make 179 discounted tee times available across four of St Andrews’ historic courses:
The Old Course
The Castle Course
The Jubilee Course
The Eden Course
In total, 716 Scottish golfers will get the chance to tee off at a world-class venue at a fraction of the price.
“A round on the Old Course will be available for £42.50 rather than £340, The Castle Course a round will cost £22.50, down from £180, the Jubilee Course for £18.75, down from £150, The Eden Course for £9.50, down from £75” confirmed the St Andrews Links Trust.
How to Enter the Ballot
This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity is open exclusively to Scottish residents.
To apply, golfers must enter a two-ball ballot. Successful applicants will be randomly paired and given a time slot.
The first 11 Old Course tee times become available starting 21 May, and all slots will come from the existing visitor allocation—so no regular bookings will be affected.

A Message from the St Andrews Links Trust
Neil Coulson, Chief Executive of the Trust, shared the vision behind the initiative:
“As the Home of Golf, St Andrews Links Trust takes its responsibility to the sport incredibly seriously. That is why we are so excited to launch this new initiative offering golfers across Scotland the opportunity to play our historic and iconic courses at a lower price.”
With green fees around the UK and beyond soaring—some topping £1,000 per round—this effort is a breath of fresh air.
The Drive initiative is more than a local deal; it's a statement that golf should be accessible to all, regardless of budget.
Why It Matters for the Future of Golf
At 2Under Golf, we believe in growing the game by making it fun, affordable, and accessible.
This move by the St Andrews Links Trust aligns perfectly with those values.
Whether you're an amateur dreaming of walking the fairways of St Andrews, or a club regular who’s never had the chance to play the Old Course, this initiative is for you.
If successful, the Drive scheme may expand in 2026 and beyond, giving even more golfers the chance to experience these world-famous courses.
Don’t Miss Out
Opportunities like this don’t come around often. If you're a golfer based in Scotland, now is the time to seize your chance to play on hallowed turf—and do it at a price that makes history accessible.
